Carols by Candlelight

In Australia Christmas time is also summer time, and one tradition is for communities to gather outdoors in parks or gardens, often around rotunda, and in cities around specially built outdoor stages to sing carols by candlelight.

This songbook from South Australia in 1950 contains words for favourite carols.

Real candles have been replaced by glow sticks or torches which is much safer around small children, and don’t pose a problem if the weather is hot enough to warrant fire bans which include any form of naked flame.
